Michigan Withholding Changes
The following tax change does not apply if you have elected to pay a flat amount of Michigan State tax.

On October 1, 2012, Michigan mandatory state tax withholding decreased from 4.35% to 4.25%. This change will be updated for pension payments beginning in November. As a result, pension payees who currently have Michigan tax withholding and have not elected a flat dollar withholding amount may see a decrease in the amount withheld beginning November 1. There will be no retroactive adjustments for this change. For more information you can visit the Michigan website at www.Michigan.gov/taxes.

If you would like to change your pension payment withholding, you may do so at any time. To do so, you must provide your marital status and personal allowances. The amount to withhold from you pension payment is calculated based on this information. You can provide this information by calling Benefit Express at 1-888-409-3300 or by making an election on Your Benefits Resource at http://resources.hewitt.com/chrysler.

Attention Michigan Retirees:
Effective January 1, 2012, Michigan's Income Tax for pension and retirement benefits will change. Michigan law now requires the administrators of pension and retirement benefits to withhold income tax on payments that will be subject to tax. Click here for details..

Click here to view an advance copy the Benefit Express mailing that will be sent to your home detailing changes to Michigan state tax withholding and what steps you may need to take to ensure your pension benefit is having the proper amount of state tax withheld.
